Cogito ergo sum - I think, therefore I am. The result of Rene Descartes meditations in the 17th century represented a shift in the way we see the world. ‘The only thing we know for sure is that we are thinking’. This idea really represented a change in Europe from a world of myth to a world of Rationalism. A world where everything would be questioned.
At its core Rationalism believes that through looking inward we can find the answers to all the questions of life through logical and rational means. We now live in an age where people look to Science or Religion for answers, Yet perhaps if people truly looked within themselves they would find answers otherwise unavailable. We should celebrate the novel, the eccentric, the strange and the creative, because we can all add something special to the world if we trust in ourselves. Love thy neighbor Regardless.
‘Science and Philosophy gives us the stepping stones, however only through Rationalism can we cross the pond’.
Coginto ergo sum - the universal paradigm. The base for all that came after.
